Even though Kristin's parents introduced her to running as a young girl, she could not honestly say she really enjoyed running until she became a first-time mom in 2002. Running became an emotional and mental--as well as physical--exercise. As 5ks and 10ks became less intimidating, Kristin decided to try her first half-marathon in Moab, UT in 2003. By the time she finished that race, Kristin knew she was meant for long-distance running, and a full marathon was the obvious next step. Since then, Kristin has run fifteen full marathons. Kristin achieved her first BQ in 2012. Other demands on her time made Kristin decide to wait until 2014 to run Boston. Kristin was honored and thrilled to be part of the historic 2014 Boston Marathon, the year following the tragic bombing. The spirit of unity, pride, friendship, and courage exhibited by the city, the participants, and everybody involved was enough to carry Kristin through several more marathons, including a second Boston Marathon in 2016, followed by the New York Marathon in 2017, and the Chicago Marathon in 2019. Kristin now has her sights set on the six World Marathon Major. London will be Kristin's fourth such marathon, and her first outside the United States.Kristin is married to her best friend and love of her life, Andy (whom she can run circles around--while he writes her bio). Together, they are the parents of four sons: Adam, Zach, Will and James. Kristin would like to thank all her boys for their continual support. Kristin's running motto is Where there's a Will, there's a way. She adopted this motto for her first Boston Marathon in honor of her son, Will, who is on the autism spectrum. All five of her boys inspire Kristin to keep running; and Kristin, in turn, inspires her boys.
