Randy Boyd

Randy has run 73 half marathons, mostly in the U.S. but one in Cambodia, and 43 full marathons, all in the U.S. His first marathon was 18 years ago, at age 43..He now aspires to run one on each continent. Randy has already run the NYC marathon 12 times in a row and is scheduled to run Tokyo, London, and Berlin in 2023. Outside of running, he started a company in Knoxville, Tennessee 30 years ago called Radio Systems. It makes over 4,000 pet products under the brand names Invisible Fence, PetSafe, SportDog, ScoopFree and others. Committing to public service full time 8 years ago, Randy has served as Special Advisor on Higher Education to the Governor and the architect of the Tennessee Promise, served as Commissioner of Economic Development, run unsuccessfully for Governor, and served as President of the University of Tennessee System with 5 campuses across the State. He is married to Jenny for 36 years and has two sons, two granddaughters, and two dogs.
