Upon completion of the Antarctic Ice Marathon Susan, at age 69, will have run thirty-eight marathons covering 7 continents and the 6 Abbott World Marathon Majors. She ran her first marathon as a “bandit” in Boston in 1993 at the age of 43. Upon completion she realized she loved running, and more importantly that it is prudent to train because her longest training run at the time was The Cape Ann Road Race in Gloucester which is 25K/15.6 miles. She then embarked on a long distance, marathon journey completing 20 Boston Marathons, 3 NYC Marathons, 2 Dublin Marathons, Berlin, Bermuda, Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Chicago, Disney World, Fenway Park, London, The Marine Corps, Paris, Sydney, and Tokyo. Susan’s PR was in Boston 3:52:05 at age 58! To maintain balance, Susan is also a dedicated biker, swimmer, and enjoys twice a week yoga and gym workouts. While running keeps her strong, her six grandchildren, Gavin, Sophia, Chloe, Nolan, Mason and Cecilia light up her life and are another source of strength. She works full time at InterSystems Corporation and is the V.P. of Finance, Administration and Recruitment and is well known for her public and private philanthropy. Home is Cambridge, Ma, USA where she lives with her husband Terry who is also running in Antarctica.
