Antarctic Ice Marathon
The World's Southernmost Marathon
Run at roughly 80°S in the Antarctic interior near the Ellsworth Mountains, the Antarctic Ice Marathon is the southernmost marathon on Earth. Established in 2006, it is contested on snow and ice in average windchills near −20°C, at around 900 m of elevation, under 24 hours of daylight, with the full marathon and the Frozen Continent Half started together.
